# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • They look dramatically impressive but require only basic kitchen skills and patience, not complicated techniques.
  • The anticipation of peeling back each jewel-toned layer makes eating them feel like opening a present.
02 -
  • Each layer must be completely set before the next one goes in—rushing this by even 15 minutes will cause the layers to blend and ruin your stripes.
  • Always cool the white mixture to room temperature before pouring; adding it warm will melt the red layer beneath it.
03 -
  • If a layer accidentally starts to blend with another, don't panic—serve it in a bowl instead and call it a parfait; it still tastes amazing.
  • Clear cups are essential because half the magic is seeing those stripes; opaque cups would hide your beautiful work.
